Running successful payroll reports is often time-sensitive, and Xplor Payroll makes it easy to prepare in advance. You can run test reports at any time to verify your setup and ensure payroll runs smoothly. The only difference between a test report and a real one is whether or not you use the results for actual payroll processing.

Running Test Report

To run a test report:

  • Go to Payroll Reports > select a date range similar to your regular payroll period (or slightly shorter).

    • Example: If your upcoming payroll run covers two weeks ending Friday, June 25, you might run a 7–10 day test report on Tuesday, June 22.

  • Review the data to confirm everything looks correct, employee payrates, class sessions, and totals.

  • If something looks off, contact support for assistance before your official payroll run.

When

Running test reports is a best practice whenever you want to confirm accuracy or troubleshoot potential issues. Common scenarios include:

  • When first setting up Xplor Payroll

    • Run a test report and manually calculate your payroll to compare results.

    • If you’ve recently migrated from Mariana Tek, note that Xplor Payroll cannot be used for pay periods before your migration date.

  • After making configuration changes

    • If you’ve updated class filters, pay structures, or employee rates, run a test report a few days before your next payroll run to confirm calculations.

  • Every pay period

    • Even without major changes, it’s smart to run a test report one day before payroll to ensure everything processes as expected.
