Class filters allow you to pay instructors different rates or offer incentives based on the class they teach. Without them, Xplor Payroll wouldn’t know how to separate one class type from another for pay calculation. Every account must have at least one class filter.
Examples of how Class Filters work
Example 1: Alex earns $30/class for Bootcamp and $50/class for Barre. You’ll need two class filters—one for Bootcamp and one for Barre—so each pay rate can be applied correctly.
Example 2:Morgan earns $35/class for both Bootcamp and Barre, but gets an additional $1 per person for Barre. You’ll still need two class filters to distinguish between the two class types, even though the base rate is the same.
Example 3: Alex earns $30/class for any class, and Morgan earns $40/class for any class. In this case, you likely need only one class filter, such as “All Classes,” because the difference in pay is based on instructor, not class type.
Setting Class Filters
When you first configure Xplor Payroll, you can choose to build filters based on:
Class tags (recommended for simplicity)
Class session types (offer more flexibility but may require more maintenance as new session types are added in Mariana Tek)
Locations
Advanced filters can also include conditions such as time of day, day of week, or specific class names.
You can adjust class filters at any time to match your evolving class structure.
Navigate to Class Filters > Add Class Filter > complete all required fields.
Once a pay rate is created for an instructor using a specific class filter, that filter cannot be changed on the existing pay rate. If you need to update it, you’ll need to delete the pay rate and recreate it using the new class filter.
