This guide walks you through the complete setup of a Founding Rate Membership using Mariana Tek and Xplor Growth. Whether you're launching a new studio or running a limited-time VIP offer, this setup allows you to create a discounted membership, control who can access it, and sell it through a customized landing page.
Step 1: Create the Membership Contract in Mariana Tek
Follow these steps to create a Membership Type and Contract for your VIP Founding Rate Membership in Mariana Tek, if you haven't already.
Two specific notes:
In order to accentuate the savings, price the Founding Rate Membership at the same value as your standard membership, and we will apply a discount later
There is no need to publish this membership on your Buy Page if you would like to limit who can purchase it
Step 2: Set Up an Automatic Discount in Mariana Tek
Navigate to Discounts in Mariana Tek
Create a New Discount and name it something like “VIP Founding Membership”
Set as an Automatic Discount
Apply the discount to the Founding Rate Membership only
Apply a Discount Amount or Percent
User Segment: Leave blank (permissions will be controlled via landing page)
Duration: Ongoing—applies as long as the client stays on this membership
Click Create Discount to save.
Step 3: Create and Assign a Tag in Xplor Growth
Log into Xplor Growth
Click the gear icon → go to Assets > Tags
Create a New Tag (e.g. “VIP”)
Ways to assign the tag
Manually:
Go to Contacts, open a contact’s profile, scroll down and add the tag
By Segment:
Go to a saved Segment, select all contacts, click Tag Management, and add the tag
By Automation:
Set up an Automation with an Auto-Action to apply the tag when triggered
Step 4: Create a Landing Page in Xplor Growth
Navigate to: Sales > Landing Pages > Create a Landing Page
Name it “VIP Founding Membership”
Audience: Target Existing Customers
Product: Select the “VIP Founding Member” membership you created
You’ll see the regular price (e.g. $189)—don’t worry, the automatic discount will apply later in Mariana Tek
When asked about discounts, select “Keep at full price” since automatic discounts won’t appear in the dropdown
Customize the page:
Enter a Display Discount (e.g. “Save $90/month!”) to highlight savings
Update the Button Text, Color, Phone Number, and Email
Customize the URL Slug if desired
Click Save, then Publish
Final Step: Restrict Access to the Landing Page
To ensure only eligible clients can purchase:
Go back to the Landing Page Settings
Click on the Permissions tab
Enable “Check permissions before buying”
Select the VIP tag you created in Step 3
Only clients with that tag will be able to view and purchase from the landing page.
Optional: Add a Purchase Limit
Under Permissions, you can also set a Global Purchase Limit (e.g., 50 total uses) if you want to cap the number of Founding Rate purchases.
You're Done!
You now have:
A VIP Membership with a recurring discount
Controlled access using tags in Xplor Growth
A beautifully branded landing page to drive purchases
