The Entry Rule for your campaign is always the first thing you should set up! This will determine which contacts enter the campaign and receive your automated messaging. Ask yourself: which of my contacts do I want to receive messaging from this campaign, and at what point do I want them to start receiving it?
Most Entry Rules are based on a certain action, such as completing their first visit or purchasing a 5-class pack. Sometimes, Entry Rules can be based on contacts not taking a certain action, such as not visiting in 30 days. Whatever your intention for the campaign, establishing the correct Entry Rule will set your campaign up for success!
Once you have created your auto-campaign, setting up your Entry Rule will be the first step you encounter. If you haven't yet created your auto-campaign, click here to learn how.
Once you have created and named your auto-campaign, it's time to set up your Entry Rule! You will be prompted with the question: Who should enter this auto-campaign?
Selecting your Entry Rule Condition
Your Conditions will determine who enters into the campaign.
Auto-campaign Entry Rules are forward-thinking. If a client has met an entry rule before the campaign is set live, this client will not be enrolled.
There are 20+ Conditions so you use the search or filters to find the ones needed.
Customizing your Entry Rule Condition
Each Condition has a series of drill-down options. This allows you to get specific who you are targeting with your campaign. Each Condition can be drilled down with its unique filters.
Once you've finished customizing your Entry Rule, click Save in the bottom left corner and your Entry Rule will display the Conditions. If you click close in the top right corner, it will not save and you will need to recreate the rule.
Using Multiple Conditions in Your Entry Rule
Combining multiple Conditions can be helpful when trying to accomplish a specific campaign or add a restriction for another Condition.
When using multiple Conditions, they will be connected by "AND", not "OR."
"OR" scenarios are not accomplishable with auto-campaigns and require separate campaigns to be set up.
When we add multiple Conditions, the Entry Rule shows this as an AND scenario:
Forward-Looking Nature of Campaign Entry Rules
Since Auto-Campaigns are forward-looking if you want to capture past contacts, use Segments. Segments, unlike auto-campaigns, can capture contacts retroactively. Read more about creating segments and how you can incorporate them into existing auto-campaigns.
